Caracas, 17 de septiembre. A los candidatos del Partido Socialista Unido de Venezuela (PSUV), a la Alcaldía Libertador, Jorge Rodríguez, y a la Alcaldía Mayor, Aristóbulo Istúriz, no los detuvo la lluvia cuando en horas de la tarde, caminaron junto a los voceros y voceras de los consejos comunales y el resto de la comunidad de la Parroquia Altagracia.
Los candidatos iniciaron su caminata en las residencias Villas del Sol, recorrieron el Barrio La Esperanza y El Retiro, finalizando en la cancha del sector Brisas del Ávila. Entusiastas y bajo el lema «La patria nos llama, la lluvia no nos para» los habitantes del sector no dejaron en ningún momento de acompañar el recorrido.
Rodríguez e Istúriz, manifestaron que han estado y seguirán visitando las 22 parroquias de Caracas, con el fin de instalar las mesas de trabajo, junto a los consejos comunales, las mesas técnicas de agua y el resto de las organizaciones que comprenden el poder popular.
El pesuvista, Jorge Rodríguez, manifestó que estas acciones solidifican su propuesta de programa popular de gobierno, que se trata de una gestión con la gente, con el poder popular, para que Caracas deje de ser gobernada desde la Plaza Bolívar.
Finamente, salió al paso a la operación basura del maletín liderada por el gobierno de los EUA, y en declaración a los medios de comunicación, Jorge Rodríguez calificó como un intento desesperado de la oposición, el hecho de que ahora intenten involucrarlo en el caso del maletín afirmando que «lo que no cupo en la computadora de Raúl Reyes ahora lo quieren meter en el maletín» y que a ese paso «van a tener que crear un galpón para meter a las demás personas que inventaron lo de la computadora de Raúl Reyes y el maletín del gordito ese. No hay duda que las encuestas están a favor de los candidatos del pueblo. «A medida que sigan aumentando las encuestas y sigamos revolcando a los candidatos de la oligarquía, me imaginó que seguirán inventando», expresó.
