Caracas, 06 de noviembre de 2017.- El alcalde de Caracas, Jorge Rodríguez rindió Memoria y Cuenta de sus nueve años de gestión como Mandatario del Municipio Bolivariano Libertador. De esta manera, cerró un exitoso ciclo para asumir ahora responsabilidades en el Ministerio del Poder Popular para la Comunicación e Información, cargo designado por el presidente de la República, Nicolás Maduro Moros.
Su alocución empezó bajo un paseo breve por la principal propuesta que desarrolló durante su gestión: La recuperación del espacio público para el encuentro, paz y felicidad de las caraqueñas y caraqueños. “Luego del terremoto del capitalismo salvaje que acabó con la ciudad de Caracas, apareció la propuesta de la ciudad como espacio socialista para el pueblo”, afirmó Rodríguez.
Rodríguez, rememoró aquel 30 de noviembre del 2008 cuando se juramentó como Alcalde de Caracas e ideó lo que hoy es una realidad. Una ciudad transitable, cultural en la que todas y todos tienen derecho a disfrutar de la recreación, el deporte y la cultura en cada rincón de las 22 parroquias del Municipio Libertador.
“Pensamos en un corto plazo, en un corredor que vaya desde El Calvario, pase por la Plaza O’Leary, la Plaza Caracas, el Paseo Vargas, la Plaza de los Museos, el Parque Carabobo, una calle para el arte y la música, donde se encuentra la sede de la Orquesta Sinfónica Municipal de Caracas, luego la Plaza Venezuela, el Bulevar de Sabana Grande, que un caraqueño que así lo quiera se vaya caminando, paseando con sus hijos desde El Calvario hasta Chacaíto y así los mismo con los Próceres y la Plaza Sucre, con el Bulevar de Catia, La Pastora, El Bulevar Panteón. Hacer de toda Caracas un espacio para que todos sonriamos, un espacio para la felicidad y la ternura” leyó su propuesta del 2008.
El dirigente político, señaló que el capitalismo llegó a imponernos que la recreación sólo era posible en los centros comerciales a lo que enfatizó que “cuando se abre el espacio público para la gente, se abre también el espacio de libertad de las mentes de las mujeres y hombres, no se puede ser Revolucionario sino se es primero libre y todas y todos contribuimos a la libertad de encontrarnos en las plazas, a la libertad de ir a cualquiera de las funciones de teatro que ya son una normalidad en la ciudad, a los cines”, resaltó.
Indicó que tiene la certeza de que Erika Farías, candidata por el Partido Socialista Unido de Venezuela (PSUV), para las elecciones Municipales del próximo 10 de diciembre, de resultar elegida por los caraqueños “va a avanzar a la recuperación definitiva de Caracas”.
Rodríguez, también agradeció a todas las trabajadoras y trabajadores que junto a él hicieron posible una exitosa gestión, “a los cultores, atletas. Muchas gracias por la vida, por poner su intelecto, su entrega al servicio del pueblo de Caracas”.
