Fabricio Ojeda nació en Boconó, estado Trujillo, y se destacó por ser un ícono revolucionario en Venezuela que se dio a conocer cuando se dirigió al pueblo venezolano anunciando que habían depuesto la dictadura de Marcos Pérez Jiménez.
Fue reportero del periódico El Nacional desde los tiempos del régimen de Pérez Jiménez, además de miembro Fundador de la Unión Republicana Democrática (URD) y Jefe de la “Junta Patriótica” en la clandestinidad, organización que derrocó la dictadura Perezjimenista el 23 de enero de 1958.
En diciembre de ese año, postulado por el partido URD, Ojeda ganó la diputación al Congreso Nacional por el Distrito Federal, en enero del año siguiente llegó a Caracas Fidel Castro, líder de la revolución que acababa de derrocar a Fulgencio Batista en Cuba.
De esa visita surgió una invitación para que Ojeda visitara la isla, el viaje se llevó a cabo a finales de 1959 y duró cuatro meses, solidarizándose con los ideales de la Revolución Cubana el 30 de junio de 1962, renuncia al Congreso y marcha a Los Andes para organizar un frente guerrillero que fue denominado Fuerzas Armadas de Liberación Nacional (FALN).Para Fabricio Ojeda, “!La sangre derramada, retoñará en nueva vida para el pueblo!”.
Ojeda fue asesinado el 21 de junio de 1966 en los calabozos del Servicio de Inteligencia Militar (Sifa), ubicados en el Palacio Blanco, en Caracas.

Hace 56 años el pueblo venezolano salía a las calles lleno de júbilo para festejar el derrocamiento del régimen dictatorial militar establecido por el otrora Presidente de Venezuela, Marcos Pérez Jiménez, quien momentos después de su caída, se vio forzado a emprender su huída a bordo del avión presidencial denominado por él mismo como “la vaca sagrada” rumbo a República Dominicana.
En la heroica parroquia, el Alcalde de Caracas, Jorge Rodríguez, realzó el papel que ha jugado la parroquia 23 de Enero en las luchas revolucionarias: “está parroquia combativa y luchadora siempre mantuvo vivo su espíritu, donde la sociedad venezolana, y sus mujeres, hombres, trabajadores y estudiantes se levantaron por democracia verdadera para lograr la paz, trabajo, educación y justicia social”, mencionó.
