Un nuevo espacio para el encuentro abre sus puertas en San Agustín, con la inauguración por parte del Alcalde de Caracas, Jorge Rodríguez del Teatro Alameda, el cual le devuelve al pueblo de esta populosa parroquia “lo que en el fondo es el corazón de las ciudades, su cultura”.
El ritmo del tambor le dio la bienvenida al mandatario municipal, quien en compañía de sus tres hijos, la jefa de Gobierno del Distrito Capital (GDC), Jacqueline Faría, el ministro para la Transformación de la Gran Caracas, Ernesto Villegas, expresó que el Teatro Alameda era un sentir y un dolor para el pueblo de San Agustín.
“El corazón y el alma de las ciudades es la expresión cotidiana de la poesía y el encuentro. Hay muchos lugares para el desencuentro, por ejemplo los centros comerciales son un lugar para el desencuentro, el Teatro Alameda es un lugar para el encuentro”, afirmó.
Rodríguez, señaló que en el año 2004 la comunidad de San Agustín recuperó este teatro del deterioro en el que se encontraba en manos de la familia Radonski, quienes lo convirtieron en un depósito de películas viejas y químicos.
Después de tanto tiempo en el abandono y a pesar de las burlas e insultos del sector opositor, este teatro fue reconstruido por la Alcaldía de Caracas y el GDC en 12 semanas, el mismo cuenta con 650 butacas nuevas, sistema de sonido, tramoya y luces. Rodríguez, recalcó que este proyecto va mas allá de un teatro, en el confluye una emisora de radio, una escuela de danza, la sede de la Big Bang y una televisora.
Durante el encuentro citó un verso del poeta Roque Dalton, “el amor nos ha devuelto mejorados al mundo y entre nosotros insuperables” y agregó “el amor le ha devuelto mejorado el Teatro Alameda a San Agustín y entre nosotros insuperables. Los quiero mucho san Agustín”.
El evento cerró con la puesta en escena de la agrupación Big Bang.
